The Department of Bioinformatics has been organizing International and National Conferences, Symposia and Workshops successfully for 13 years on the theme of SBCADD and now announces the 3rd International Conference cum Workshop on "Recent Trends in Structural Bioinformatics and Computer Aided Drug Design" (ICSBCADD'25). ICSBCADD'25 intends to provide a global platform for thought-provoking deliberations with renowned experts in various facets of Bioinformatics and Drug Discovery. Mainly, leading Scientists and Academicians hailing from premier institutes including R&D industries will be enlightening on various prospects of protein/nucleic acid structures and their prominent role in the pathogenicity of diseases arising due to COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2), Vector-borne (Malaria, Filariasis, Zika and Chikungunya), Immune Compromised (AIDS), nosocomial infections (ESKAPE & Nocardia pathogens) or resulting from unhealthy lifestyle (Cancer, Diabetes, Hypertension and Cardiovascular diseases) which are an evading burden towards sustainability of human life. The advent of AI and ML in Structural Biology and Computational approaches provides a common solution to address issues relating to the identification of active biomolecules against the aforesaid diseases. Therefore, ICSBCADD'25 will serve the purpose to bring indefinite solutions (Cost-Effective) to the forefront amidst the Life-Threatening Disease burdens. The ICSBCADD'25 will continue the tradition of presenting outstanding science in a relaxed atmosphere infused with a variety of social activities designed to provide a forum for scientists and students to share their research, build new connections and explore collaborations. Besides, Application Scientists would also provide hands-on training on latest techniques in AI - Assisted Computer Aided Drug Design and Computational Biology. We thank you for your interest in the ICSBCADD'25 and welcome your participation.
The Department of Bioinformatics was established in the year 2008, to facilitate teaching and research in the interdisciplinary areas of Small and Macro Molecule X-ray Crystallography, Structural Biology, Structural Bioinformatics, Molecular Modelling, Computer-Aided Drug Design, Pharmacoinformatics, Chemoinformatics, Molecular Cell Biology, Genetic Engineering, Genomics, Proteomics, Bio-computing, Quantum Chemistry, Database and Software development to create an intellectual environment for interdisciplinary education and training. The Department is supported by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under the scheme of "Innovative Programme - Teaching & Research in Interdisciplinary and Emerging Areas", the Department of Science & Technology (DST) - "Fund for Improvement of S & T Infrastructure in Higher Educational Institutions" (FIST), "Promotion of University Research and Scientific Excellence" (PURSE), Department of Biotechnology (DBT)-Establishment of Bioinformatics and Computational Biology Center (BIC) & National Network Project (NNP) and Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA 2.0). We apply our computational and experimental techniques to study the interaction of small chemical compounds with proteins and nucleic acids and to characterize their molecular mechanisms towards the novel discovery of potential drugs for human diseases. Our dynamic environment is focused on students to gain experience through academic and industrial internship programs. Our students regularly coordinate with faculties to produce scientific publications. The Department of Bioinformatics has been offering M.Sc. and Ph.D. programs. Our department published more than 700 research articles in highly reputed journals, including Books, Chapters and Monographs related to Human diseases, Pathogenic and Non-Pathogenic organisms. The Department has received major research projects from the Government of India & Tamil Nadu with a tune of more than Rs. 2327 lakhs.
The Alagappa University was established by the Government of Tamil Nadu, as envisioned by the great Philanthropist Padma Bhushan (Late) Dr RM. Alagappa Chettiar is achieving Excellence in all spheres of Education, with particular emphasis on Pedagogy, Extension, Administration, Research and Learning (PEARL) by affording a Quality oriented Higher Education to the learners so that they are transformed into intellectually competent human resources that will help in the up-liftment of the nation to Educational, Social, Technological, Environmental and Economic Magnificence (ESTEEM). Our motto is "Excellence in Action". The 435.98 acre green and Lush campus houses Science, Arts, Management, and Education Faculties with 45 Departments, including 2 Constituent Colleges and 4 Centres on its campus. Besides, 45 Affiliated Colleges are located in the districts of Sivaganga and Ramanathapuram. The institution offers 56 programmes in the University Department catering to the educational needs of rural students.
